Hétforrás - Seven Springs

Sights

The most well-known well of Kőszeg Hills is a popular tourist attraction. It was built in 1896, in the year of the Hungarian Millennium. Its water is clean and drinkable.

The seven outlets represent the seven leaders of the Hungarian conquest: Álmos, Előd, Ond, Kond, Tas, Huba and Töhötöm.

According to the local legend, those who drink from the water fall in love.

The spring is situated deep inside the Kőszeg Hills, in the hug of old trees. In the past it provided the water supply of the castle of Óvár. Its water is clean with an average temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. At the time of the Cold War it was a part of the protection area of the border and it was prohibited to visit. In the 1980’s it was possible to come here with a permission and a guide.
