Lake Abért is situated on the border of Kőszeg, in a very nice environment, with the Kőszeg Hills in the background. Many come here to ride a bike, jog or just enjoy the harmony of the nature by taking a relaxing walk.
Lake Abért (former Kőszeg-Lukácsháza Water Reservoir) is an artificial lake, water reservoir at times of flooding. Its duty is to ensure flood safety of the Szombathely region.
It was named after László Abért, one of the lead engineers of the Water Board who died in an accident going home from the building site of the lake.
